SKS Airways is a new commercial airline in Malaysia. It became active in January 2022. It has a small air fleet and flies with propeller planes at destinations that have a short runway, such as the islands of Pangkor, Redang and Tioman.
The planes depart from Subang Airport (official name: Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport). This is the old international airport, which served from 1965 to 1998 and it is close to the city.
The new airport (Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang) is located about 70 kilometers from the capital. Landing and taking off on Subang is cheaper and of course that played a role. Here you will also find the budget airlines, such as Malindo, Firefly and AirAsia.
The company was incorporated on November 13, 2017 with shares owned by Malaysians. SKS Airways is part of the SKS group of companies. Founded in 1983, SKS Group is today a multidisciplinary organization with core activities spanning real estate development, investment holding, hospitality and credit financing in Malaysia and Australia.

The airport in Subang today is a small airport with two floors in long wide corridors. On the ground floor there are a number of small fast food restaurants, including KFC and MacDonalds. There are also some shops. The focus in this airport is mainly on the domestic flights, although some foreign flights are also operated. No wonder that the majority of visitors come from Malaysia. On the left in the hall you can check in and drop off your luggage and on the far right you can go to the departure areas.

SKS Airways flies DHC6-300 Twin-Otter aircraft from Havilland and they can carry 19 people in addition to the two pilots. The De Havilland Twin Otter is a highly manoeuvrable, versatile aircraft, and the high-wing, unpressurized, twin-engine, turbine-powered aircraft is ideally suited to operate in all conditions. This unit is suitable to take you to remote islands, reachable only by mainland and then boat trip.
The plane only needs a short runway, which is very suitable for the small airfields on Tioman, Redang and Pangkor. The three-wheel landing gear cannot be retracted.
SKS Airways is a budget airline, so there are different rates depending on how busy the destination is, where you want to go. The rates increase as more seats are sold. Seats are sold on a first come, first served basis. We recommend that you plan your trip well in advance to avoid disappointment.
For now, it has a network of 5 destinations, including Johor Bahru, Subang, Pulau Pangkor, Pulau Redang and Pulau Tioman.
Due to aircraft cabin/luggage space size limitations on DHC6-300 Twin Otter aircraft; we cannot accept checked baggage over 7kg. We recommend that you pack your personal belongings and travel equipment in advance and do NOT weigh more than 7 kg before going to the airport. Therefore, we do not accept or charge excess baggage during check-in. Other related holiday equipment/equipment such as golf set, snorkeling equipment, diving equipment and the like can be rented at the respective destinations.
