Kuching International Airport (KCH) is an international airport serving the entire southwestern region of Sarawak. The airport is located 11 km south of Kuching city center. The city is accessible by bus and taxi (including Grab). The bus goes to the Kuching Sentral Bus Terminal (approx. 2 Euro), where you can take the bus elsewhere: to the city or elsewhere in Sarawak. Buses also run from the terminal to Indonesian Borneo (to the city of Pontianak).
The airport terminal can handle five million passengers per year and is Malaysia's fourth busiest airport. The building has three floors. Kuching International Airport is the secondary hub for both Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia. There are more than 251 domestic flights per week from Kuching Airport. Kuching International Airport has direct flights to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bandar Seri Begawan and Perth in Western Australia and to Hong Kong via Kota Kinabalu.
The airport departure tax on departure is RM 6 (domestic), RM 20 (within ASEAN), and RM 45 (international). Please note: rates are subject to change!
The terminal has clean facilities and a wide variety of shops, restaurants and services. There are fast food restaurants, such as McDonalds, Secret Recipe, Marry Brown and KFC, which are open 24 hours. There is also a Starbucks, where you can buy delicious coffee.
Free WiFi is available. The air conditioning makes the terminal very cold! If your departure time is late in the evening: Padded seats without armrests for lying down are available in the departure area.
There is also a comfortable lounge (Plaza Premium Lounge) available for the economy passenger at Kuching International Airport, which you can enter for a fee.
