Penang Hop-on Hop-off

Hop-on Hop-off bus service is nothing new, especially for Western travelers or to the Europeans. The most famous Hop-on Hop-off bus among them is the London Open Top Red Bus, which serves tourists in London. Who has been in Kuala Lumpur, has already become acquainted with the hop-on hop-off bus, going along the most famous attractions. Penang is not different. The bus has two different routes:

1) Beach Route - which goes along all Beach Hotels to Teluk Bahang
2) City Route - this trip goes from Georgetown to Air Hitam (Kek Lok Si/ Penang Hill

A ticket for the bus is valid for 24 hours. So if you get in at 11.00, the ticket is valid until the next day 11:00. You can get off at every attraction and get in again when the next hop-on hop-off bus comes along. The buses come with a frequency of 20-30 minutes along the bus stop. Most bus stops are also stops for the "ordinary" Rapid buses that drive around the island and in the city.
Hop-on hop-off buses operate from 09.00 in the morning till 08.00 in the evening. Currently, there are 10 buses in Penang, but as demand increases, the number of buses will be increased. The buses have a capacity of 60 seats, of which 27 are above in the bus in the "open air".
You can switch from one route to another route. You can change the route at Chowrasta on Penang Road and at the shopping centre Gurney Plaza on Gurney Drive.
The tickets will cost RM45, - (about 10 Euros) and can be purchased on the bus, but there are also two "service counter" at Chowrasta and Gurney Plaza.
You can use the bus either for shopping, visiting restaurants, or to see all the famous attractions of Penang. Without losing much money on taxis.
